Episode 11

Last week

  • Irishman Mike Ryan beat Chris Delorean
  • Max Damage won the Number One Contender's spot when H-Flame was distracted by the sudden appearance of KPW Champion Inferno.

This week

Backstage...

Mr Rumble put his Fire Safety Message into action by testing the batteries in a smoke detector in the KPW locker room, when he couldn't help but overhear the Renegades (The Technician and Kade Morgan) boasting of how magnificent they were.  Mr Rumble was less than impressed!

Also backstage...

Lazarus Volt discussed his upcoming match against the "Beast of Bedlam" with his friend Trinket the clown.  Though the conversation was a little one-sided, Volt appeared to be confident.

Singles match:  The Brute (with Nurse Payne) versus Lazarus Volt (with Trinket the clown)

Ref: Daniel Martins

Brute force had been running strong recently with a win over Chris Delorean.  For his part, when last seen on Off The Ropes, Volt came up short against Inferno; would this match see him climb the ladder in the KPW ranks?  From the outset,

Volt used his speed to avoid the Brute's attacks, but was caught showboating and bisected with shoulder charges.  The "little man from the big top" managed to avoid the worst of it and attacked with a flying forearm.  Sadly, this just seemed to make the Brute madder, and he took out his anger on the hapless Lazarus Volt.  The Brute trapped Volt in the corner and wore him down with charges before suplexing the ringmaster straight into an inverted chinlock.  Such a skillful display allowed the capacity crowd to see the technical side of the second generation wrestler before his uglier side re-emerged and Volt got the worst of it.  However, a  timely leapfrog and running enzugiri for a near fall ensured that Volt remained alive in the match.  Volt clamped on the Shock Treatment (double temple claw), but perhaps the Brute was no stranger to a little ECT because he powered out with relative ease.  Lazarus then attempted to make the Brute prettier by hitting a bulldog, stunning the so-called "Beast of Bedlam" long enough for the ex-ringmaster to scale the top rope  and hit the High Voltage (top rope drop kick) to pull out the surprise victory!

Winner: Lazarus Volt with the High Voltage for the win by pinfall.

Backstage...

The mysterious hostile phone call she received last week was preying on Queen Hollie's mind so much that she swore someone was calling out to her... and she jumped a foot in the air when Intern Suki Gogo appeared behind her!  Suki said she didn't hear anything - maybe it was all in Queen Hollie's mind?

KPW Tag Team Championship match:  Champions the Renegades (the Technician and Kade Morgan "3G") versus Whetu, the Maori Warrior and "Powerhouse" Jade Diamond (with Mr Juno Huia)

Ref: Daniel Martins

The Renegades came to the ring full of confidence in heselves and their so-called destiny as KPW Tag Team Champions.  Whetu and Jade Diamond came to the ring ready to put everything on the line for the coveted belts, having already narrowly missed out on capturing the championship from the Renegades earlier in the year.  Whetu started the match with the Technician and both men traded holds, the Technician showing his nine year amateur background and Whetu his speed and athleticism, much to the delight of the capacity crowd.  With the action almost too fast to call, Whetu tagged in Jade Diamond who kept up the pressure on the Technician and monkey-flipped Whetu into a moonsault on the Technician for a near fall.

Diamond tagged in and the "mighty team" unleashed their "production line" of attacks on the downed Technician, forcing Kade Morgan to make the save and their championship.  The "mighty team" kept up the pressure with their well-practised teamwork for another near fall.  Eschewing his normal array of takedowns and holds, the Technician went to the Maori Warrior's eyes to open up an avenue of attack.  Kade Morgan was tagged in and the Renegades showed some sterling double teaming manoeuvres of their own on Whetu, forcing Jade Diamond to make the save for his team.

Morgan used his characteristic power against Whetu, but the Maori Warrior refused to die.  The Technician was tagged in and went technical, but Jade Diamond furiously interjected himself, knocking Kade Morgan off the apron and following him with a pescado!   Seeing his partner in trouble, the Technician rushed to Morgan's aid with a baseball slide on Diamond.  The Renegades then proceeded to beat down the Powerhouse, two-on-one!

Meanwhile Mr Huia rallied the crowd and the Maori Warrior felt the mana, making it back to his feet.  All fired up, Whetu took the fight to the Renegades outside the ring with a somersault senton from the top rope all the way to the floor!  Both teams were scattered and stunned outside the ring, beaten senseless.  Referee Daniel Martins had no choice but to lay in the count as both legal men (Whetu and the Technician) were outside the ring.  With the crowd trying desperately to rally the wrestlers, both teams struggled to make it back into the ring and beat the count but ultimately failed to do so.

Winner:  Both teams failed to beat the referee's count, resulting in a double countout. (The Renegades retain the KPW Tag Team Championship).

The crowd was exhilarated by the hard-hitting, high-flying match, yet gutted that there wasn't a conclusive winner.  For their part, the Renegades left with their belts, as happy as if they'd won the match outright.  However, the "mighty team" was unbowed and left with their heads held high and the crowd behind them all the way!

"Backstage Pass", with Ilex Bell

Ms Bell attempted to interview Queen Hollie of Team Pretty, but the Queen ripped the poor interviewer to shreds and proceed to inform all the viewers that "off The Ropes" was all about her!

Coming up next week...

  • Queen Hollie finally meets her Mystery Opponent in the ring!
  • It's the proverbial "big one"!  KPW Champion Inferno defends the KPW Championship against the Number One Contender, Max "the Axe" Damage.

For KPW's "Off The Ropes", this is Blair "the Flair" saying, "See you at ringside!"
